I NEED HELP!!!

So, I know that this is going to be a boring post without pictures but, I have a great idea for a picture post for tomorrow ;0) You will all love it!! Let's just say embarassing pictures from my earlier years (and maybe a couple of Rob too). Anyway, back to why I need help...I am completely overwhelmed with what baby stuff to buy. So, if any of you out there with children would please let me know the top 5 things that you couldn't live with out and the top 5 things that you would never buy again, I would appreciate it!! Obviously I am looking for baby stuff, but toddler advice would be great as well. So, for any of you with kids who are stalking my blog now is when I need your comments. Please, please, please!! I appreciate any and all help that any of you can give. Thanks in advance !! Allright, hold on one second and I will try to find a picture.....

OK, I am back...Rob, Lily, and I were out at Nauset beach and we got this cool shot of Lily in the wind with Rob's pride and joy in the background! Now this post is complete!!

Hi La-
I know one thing I would never buy again, and I had 3 when Austen was born. A baby wipe warmer.

Fave things:
*Boppy pillow

*rearview mirror thing so you can see baby when she faces backwards

*mini fingernail clippers

*Gowns for infants!!!!!!!!

*crib matress pad that doesn't have corners, just lays on top...way easier to change

Can't think of any more favorites or Never Agains right now. Love ya!

Okay 5 things that I couldn't live without...

1. Medela Breast Pump
2. Boppy (or something like it)
3. Baby Bjorn
4. Snap 'N Go
5. Good diaper bag packed with all the essentials

I can only think of 3 things I have but never really used. I am sure I will think of more though...

1. Bottle Warmer
2. Wipe Warmer
3. Baby Swing - but that is only because Olivia hated it. I know others babies love it!

Alright Lets see:

Must Haves:

I am with Laura on the Medela Breast pump.
Mylicon - cant believe this wasnt posted by KC already...stock up.
Lots of burp cloths - you go through these super fast.
Onesies galore
Head Cushion Insert for the carseat - with a medium and tiny one - the towel-like one is nice.
Swing and bouncy seat - Mackenzie lived in our swing - the one that goes side to side is really nice.

IF NURSING:

Breast pads galore and cream!!!!

COULD DO WITH OUTS:
Lots of baby clothes - she just wont ever get around to all of the cute outfits for 0-3 or 3-6 months.
Bottle sterilizer or warmer
Wipe warmer as mentioned
A million bibs - my babies were too sloppy for bibs - I had to stuff a burp cloth right up under their chins.

Oh my stars!!! I can't believe I forgot the Mylicon...best stuff ever. I would give it to Macy when she got fussy just becasue she liked the taste of it and she would suck on it in her mouth a while (smile).

I also had the Medela breast pump, but I rented it. They gave me all the accessories that need to be used in the hospital and then the NICU at the other hospital supplied me with a set to use there so I didn't have to bring them back and forth.

Waste of money:
*Wipe Warmer
*Desitin (just use Bag Balm...one tub has lasted me YEARS)
*infant shoes (maybe some people take the time to put them on...but socks are way easier and stay on!)

Make sure you buy:
*several newborn paci's
*sippy cups with the straw (rather than sippy lid)
*cloth diapers (they make great burp rags and are much more absorbant)
*boppy pillow
*unlike Shauna...Brody wore bibs for the first 6 months of his life because he spit up all the time and it was easier to change them than his outfits. we needed tons of them!
*good stroller

If I think of more later I'll post again ;)

Hi! Shauna told us to check in with you, sorry to be a random poster but I just had a baby 2 months ago so i thought i would share:

-swing (lifesaver-the only thing my needy child will let me put her down on)
-a sling (i got a mammas milk one and zolo wear-amazing-i clean all day with her in it-she loves it)
-a preemie outfit. my child was much smaller than i ever thought she would be and i didn't have any clothes that fit her for the whole first month. just in case.
-head supporter for the car seat. once again-small baby-car seat swallowed her.
-gripe water-my baby went through a colic stage and that helped calm her and even stopped hiccups instantly!
-a great rocking chair or glider. i live in mine.
-a light weight cottom waffle blanket for swaddling. reese sleeps longer when we swaddle and this is the only blanket she doesn't get hot in.

Do without:
-changing table. haven't once used it.
-pacifiers-reese won't take any and i have a TON. i'd wait until you know if yours will take them or not.
-a bassinet-she won't sleep anywhere but with us. but you could use a pack n play and tote it around when yours is older.

good luck to you. again, sorry to be a random poster.

I am another one that saw you needed help on Shauna's blog here are mine:

Things I loved:
Medela Pump in Style
Hot Sling www.hotslings.com
mam pacifiers
cloth diapers for burp cloths
Angel Care monitor, my second has terrible reflux and he slept better on his tummy so I bought the Angel Care because it has a sensor that monitors breathing...ahhh peace of mind!

Things I could do without:
Boppy, I prefered My Breast Friend for nursing
PJ's that snap for newborns, get the gowns
don't needs lots of crib sheets

OH I forgot...Baby Einstein movies my kids love them still!

I knew KC had just forgotten the Mylicon! :) Love ya!

I'm another random poster from Shauna. You don't need to invest in a changing table. Get a chest of drawers that is short enough if you are interested in that and get one of those scooped pads with a strap-- or just change on the couch like the rest of us:)

Cool picture!

i wanted to add...
The Happiest Baby on the Block book or any other book someone recommends. My child was fussy every evening from 6-2 a.m. and I just read that book and now she goes to bed at 10:30. I wish I had read it BEFORE i had her.

Another Shauna referral:

THINGS I LOVE:
1. Swing
2. Bouncy - MUST vibrate
3. Milicon - DEFINATE
4. Butt paste - (yes that is the actual name)
5. Little baby tub - the sink never worked for us
6. GOOD monitors - they will use them forever and you don't want the kind that are all static and keep you up at night

NOT NEEDED:
1. Car bottle warmer (I thought this would be great when we are out, but it takes WAY too long for a screaming baby)
2. Boppy - too big and bulky for no real purpose
3. Millions of bibs - 5-10 was enough for us

***HELPFUL HINT: we bought several big cans of formula right of the bat ($100-$150) and then our baby ended up Lactose Intolerant. I would wait and see which kind is best before you stock up - every baby is different. I have heard that ebay is a good place for formula. Never used it myself but heard it is a lot cheaper and it isn't expired or anything!!!

GOOD LUCK

Another Shauna poster here. I have three kids, so of course I feel like an expert. :)

Fav things:

Miracle Blanket! www.miracleblanket.com
Only way I got my youngest to sleep anywhere other than my chest

Medela pump is good-you can also get the Ameda Purely Yours. Great pump. Look for new ones on ebay for cheaper.

White noise machine. Again, only way I could get my youngest to sleep in her own room. That, and the miracle blanket.

Boppy pillow. And extra covers for them so you can throw them in the wash.

Baby Bjorn

Soothie pacis

Things I could have done without:

Swing-none of my kids liked it. But, tons do, so you just never know.

Tons of crib sheets-Like Kaycee said, easier to change out the pads instead of the crib sheet.

Ditto on the baby shoes!

Lots of bottles. None of my kids were keen on taking a bottle.

Lots of cute outfits. Onesies are the easiest, and snuggliest for newborns. I had tons of cute outfits from Gap, etc. than NONE of my kids wore.

Good luck and congratulations!
