That's right folks...The Bowens are heading on a road trip! We are leaving sometime tonight/early tomorrow morning to see my dad and step-mother in Virginia. I am losing my mind over this. I know that it should not be a big deal but Payson has not exactly been loving her carseat lately. She goes from playing nicely with her toys to screaming her head off in an instant. The drive normally takes around 10 hours sans 4 month old. I am not sure what to expect this time. We are still trying to decide what time to leave. We were advised to leave in the middle of the night that way Payson will sleep for most of the trip(hopefully). I am just nervous that Daddy may fall asleep as well (not good)! I have been running around like a headless chicken for the past 36 hours trying to get everything together for the trip. I have lists and half-packed bags all over the place. How can a baby require so much stuff? I am sure that I can do without most of what I am bringing. I will know better for our next trip I guess. So, for those of you who have road-tripped with a baby, I am looking forward to your advice.
Here is a pic of the sweet one on her daddy's shoulder. Her most favorite place for that last hour before snoozing at night (from the looks of it Rob is going to need a chiropractor real soon!):

Hope you have a safe and fun trip!!
We've done quite a few road trips with little ones...can't say it's all fun and games. I think the best thing to do is just take it easy and look at the extra stops you have to make as part of the adventure (sorry to sound corny). Also, sitting next to the baby is how I always travel, unless of course I'm the only driver. I would suggest early morning departure... but that's just me. Have a bag of entertaining toys to offer her one at a time. Sing songs, play peekaboo a million times. Keeping a sense of humor is key to sanity. Remember that Florida trip with Laura L. and me? Okay, enough of my lame advice. Good luck!
You know what my advice is and you dont want to hear it! And - again - dont call me. :) Good luck!
Call me - I want to know how the trip went!!
