Poor Payson Jayne had her first "major" accident. I say "major" only because of the major amount of crying that occured. Payson had just woke up from her nap and I gave her her sippy cup with her warmed milk in it (if we give it to her cold she spits it out!). Normally my mom watches her during the day while I work from home (YES, MY NEW JOB ROCKS!!!!) but on this day I had her with me for a couple of hours. While I was busy working and she was busy sipping she fell and the straw jammed her in the mouth. Right in that little piece of skin that attaches your lip to the gums above your front teeth. She was SCREAMING and I grabbed her as fast as I could to cuddle her! When she picked her head up off my shoulder I saw the blood. Dripping out of her sweet little mouth...she was even blowing bubbles of blood! I am happy to say that I only freaked out a little bit. I was just so scared that she had knocked out her teeth. I couldn't tell where the blood was coming from but man there was a lot of it! I shoved a wet paper towel in her mouth hoping that her teeth were still intact...they were. Only her gums were bloody, thank Goodness! She calmed down, I calmed down, and the cats and dogs calmed down, and there we all sat on the kitchen floor with a bunch of bloody paper towels scattered around us. I am sure we were quite a sight!
So, the greatest part of the story is that we got the "first blood" out of the way and it wasn't too bad. I know that this is only the first of many bumps and bruises now that she is a toddler but now I feel a little bit more prepared to handle them. She got her first cold a couple of weeks ago and that wasn't too bad either. A little bit of stuffiness but still slept through the night. Considering she is almost 14 months and we have only just suffered through the cold and tblood I would say we are doing pretty well.
We had a funny thing happen the other morning...Rob went in to get the little one as she was waking up and started to change her diaper. I went in to the kitchen to get her milk. All of the sudden Rob yells, "I am going to need a little help in here!" So I go in to find him holding her over the sink in the bathroom. She is naked with an exploded diaper barely clinging to her body. This diaper did not explode from poop...she had peed so much that the whole front of the diaper had blown open and there were all of the little absorbent beads covering her body. I grabbed her, wrapped her in a towel (so she didn't freeze from being wet and naked), and started her bath. THEN SHE PEED ON ME! Thanks Sweet Pea, I love you too! The odd part of this is that she has never peed on either of us even when she was a newborn. In all of the bazillion times that we have changed her diaper she has never pooped or peed during the changing process.
I apologize for the boring-ness of this post...I am just trying to document a little piece of our lives that I would probably forget about if I didn't. Afterall, that is what a blog is all about, right?
Stay tuned for my next post: Updates on Payson Jayne's new words, signs, foods, likes, and dislikes...bet ya can't wait for that one!
It is finally Christmas decorating time at the Bowens. We are getting our tree tomorrow and I can't wait!! There are not many things that I like more than decorating the house for Christmas. Plus, I get a little helper this year that was much too young last year to enjoy it.
We hope you all have a great weekend!!
Oh, and here are some pics that will not be making it on the Bowen Family Christmas card:

Mouth wounds are the WORST! they bleed like crazy. I seriously though Gavin fractured his face when he popped his two front teeth out... there was so much blood!
Glad she's feeling better!
